Everyone is Welcome to Sunday Services in the Parish Churches of Camelot

Most village churches have a Sunday service every week, except for the first Sunday of the month when everyone joins together for three services in different churches.  Special services take place at festival times.

There is a variety of different styles of service every Sunday in Camelot.  People have their own preferences and are encouraged to move the short distances around the Camelot Parishes to worship with others.  Whilst we retain our allegiances to our own parish and village church, we can and should share in worship with the wider family of God from time to time.

The different services:

Holy Communion following the form set in the Book of Common Prayer (Order 2) indicated by (BCP).  Normally a service with a sermon, usually said - sometimes with hymns.  A traditional form of service.

Holy Communion (Family or Parish Communion) following the new pattern of Common Worship (Order 1).  A service with music and hymns using modern language.

Morning Prayer following the form set in the Book of Common Prayer (Order 2) indicated by (BCP).  Sometimes called Matins.  This service will always have a sermon and usually music with hymns and sung responses.

Morning Prayer following the new pattern of Common Worship (Order 1).  This will have hymns and a sermon using modern language.

Worship for All the Family  Every Sunday at 11.00am (1st Sunday at 10.30am) - a more informal liturgical service suitable for everyone. (4th Sunday is Family Communion)

Evensong is a popular service of worship drawing people together from all the parishes at the close of a Sunday.  This service follows the style of the Book of Common Prayer in Common Worship with some sung responses, psalm and hymns and always a sermon on a particular theme.

Evening Communion (usually Order 1) will usually take place on the first Sunday of the month.  There will be an opportunity of prayer for healing at this service.

Informal Services of Praise, Teaching, Prayer and Worship - one Sunday service a month (Camelot Evening Praise) and sometimes a  mid-week service - see Excalibur for regular details.  Bible Study groups take place every week and Parishes at Prayer on the 2nd Sunday of the month at Yarlington.

  • There is the opportunity for prayer ministry at all main services in the churches (ask the minister).  See also details of the Parishes' Prayer Chain.    All Bible readings follow the Church of England's Common Worship lectionary.

  • For full details of services and church related activities, and any changes, see Excalibur or ring the Parish Office  (open 9.30am - 12.30pm) on 01963 440432.

  • Ring Revd John Angle (01963 440469) for further details and to arrange special services, home communions or a visit, and baptisms in the Sunday service.
