Nancholi Church is a congregation of The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP),
in the Blantyre City Presbytery, Malawi.
In November 2003 the Presbytery of Aberdeen and Blantyre City Presbytery
signed a "twinning agreement" linking the two presbyteries. Following this,
individual congregations in the two presbyteries have now been 'partnered' with each other.
Northfield Parish Church, Aberdeen has been partnered with Nancholi Church, Blantyre City.
Nancholi Church is in the centre of a very poor village-suburb of Blantyre.
The present church building is very basic, but the atmosphere and the enthusiasm of the people is tremendous.
In common with so many other churches in Blantyre they are putting up a new building alongside the present one, as and when funds are available.
At present we have only very limited information about Nancholi with communications difficult,
but we hope to gain further insights into the life of Nancholi Church as the months go by,
and share with them some of our experiences here in Aberdeen.
Mr Kennedy Kachingwe will soon be coming to Aberdeen from Nancholi, along with 20 others from other partner churches. The dates for the visit are 10-24 May 2007 and we will have the opportunity to meet Kennedy at Northfield on Sunday 13th and Sunday 20th May in the church.
The Pastor of the church in Nancholi is Rev. Misheck Nasiyaya.
They have some 1,500 confirmed members.
There are 42 Elders and 30 Deacons; 120 members in the Women's Guild; and 210 children in Sunday School.
(statistics as at November 2005)
The township of Nancholi is about 5 minutes drive south of Blantyre City Centre.
